Anti Discriminatory Education
This course examines a range of equity and diversity issues in the Ontario education
system, particularly the different ways that exclusion and discrimination manifests
through school policies and practices. The interlocking nature of oppression rooted in
deficit thinking are discussed to understand the historical roots and on-going systemic
barriers for equity-deserving groups. Strength-based approaches to teaching and
community work are shared to encourage Teacher Candidates to be agents of social
change and advocates for their students.
Registration Notes: Only available to Bachelor of Education students.
